EXIT STATE

Group Generali (now Generali Česká pojišt'ovna) radically transformed its IT infrastructure in 2015-2016, which included data centre relocation all parts of the holding to Italy. The company's management, together with ORBIT, which was involved in the project, identified the need to communicate this change to IT usersto which the project did not generate direct added value. The aim was to design and implement an appropriate strategy that will lead to a better acceptance of the whole project.

EXTREME CONDITION

The main pillar of the created communication strategy Gondolier was a set of tools to support IT's partnership approach to its users - specifically a website, a competition and a point of contact. Data centre migration implementers acted as guides - gondoliers - in this strategy.

By using the internal company intranet and the new attractive website as a central communication hub, the users actively participate in the project. The gondolier conveyed useful information such as migration schedules, application statuses and answers to frequently asked questions in a non-violent and playful way. Users felt interested in their needs, actively interacted, had immediate feedback on their questions and engaged in the competition.

The parallel aim of the project was to find out to what extent the chosen approach of change communication in IT projects works and what added value it brings. It proved that ORBIT was able to ensure that Generali employees felt part of the team and took on the data center relocation project as their own.
