INITIAL STATUS

Banking group Erste Group acquires a huge number of VMware technology licenses. Managing their purchase is administratively demanding and places high demands on perfect knowledge of the manufacturer’s licensing policy. Therefore, the company announced a tender for central delivery of VMware technologies, in which ORBIT won, which then succeeded with the intention of concluding an ELA corporate contract with the supplier. Now, after its expiration, Erste Group has announced a new tender for the supplier ELA, in which ORBIT has succeeded again.

RESULT STATUS

During the six months of preparations, 15 entities in the eight countries that are part of the banking group had to be carefully coordinated. It was necessary to clearly define the installed bases, including development plans and subsequent pricing. The result was a negotiated extension of the ELA contract, under which ORBIT coordinates the delivery and provides complete management of VMware licenses within the Erste Group.

For our client, we are actively looking for potential savings in a license price list with more than 245 items. If an entity does not meet the contractual conditions for purchasing a license, we intensively look for ways to include it in the ELA. Often we are successful and achieve a price reduction.

We monitor prices, movements and correct invoicing of licenses, always according to internal banking standards and in accordance with the requirements of individual national legislation. The cooperation with ORBIT thus brought the Erste Group, in addition to significant financial savings also significant reduction of administrative burden.
